WELCOME BACK AND CONGRATULATIONS!
September 2009
Dear Families,
Welcome back! A new school year presents opportunities for various beginnings—new classes, new faces, new teachers. As we open a new school year, we look forward to an exciting year filled with hope and vast potential.
We are pleased to report that we have achieved a score of A on our school’s 2008-2009 Progress Report. We are very proud of this accomplishment. A copy of the progress report is available online at
www.nyc.gov/schools. During the 2007-2008 school year, 178 received a B and a cumulative score of 57.3 points. During 2008-2009, we improved by 26.5 points, a tremendous feat. This achievement is not only attributed to our hard-working and dedicated staff, but to the work of all the families and students. Our collaborative efforts make it possible to attain these achievements. Our school theme for 2009-2010 continues with maximizing the potential of each child and enhancing overall communication.
This year, we will focus our efforts on the processes that promote high achievement: evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve, and identifying what we need to make those improvements. We will communicate with parents regularly on the practices that will support each student’s growth.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school. You may contact our Parent Coordinator, Phyllis Corley, and our Assistant Principal, Patrick Klocek. The following sources of communication are frequently used to keep the school community abreast of information:
